The Montreux Jazz Festival Updated on
August 26, 2002 Although almost since its first edition
in 1967 the Montreux Jazz Festival has become
an all music event with rock, pop, R&B, funk, soul, Latin and other
musical styles, the program offers great jazz performances
too.
Among my favorite artists of the 34th edition of the year 2000 were guitarist Pat
Metheny (together with Michael Brecker on July 20), pianist and
singer Diana
Krall (July 18), guitarist George Benson
(July 18), pianist Keith
Jarrett (article in German) (July 17) and, last but not least, the revelation in jazz of the
recent years, pianist Brad Mehldau
