Eleven Cadogan Gardens is a luxury hotel
at Sloane Square, Knightsbridge, London. It is so discrete a hotel that the
sign "11" only reveals its presence to the initiated. All the
Victorian mansions in the quiet area were built by Lord Chelsea on his former
cricket ground at the end of the 19th century.
The hotel with its sixty rooms and suites was established in 1949. It faces an
elegant private garden, which is available for use by guests of Eleven Cadogan
Gardens. The town house has no reception. Instead, a butler meets you at the
The furniture and wallpaper is tasteful and very British. Antiques and
oriental rugs as well as marble bathrooms create an exclusive ambiance. Keiser
and Cybex exercise machines wait in the basement for guests who would like to
work out. Sauna, massages and aromatherapy are available too.
A specialty of Eleven Cadogan Gardens is the complimentary five o'clock tea,
served with a freshly baked cake in front of the fireplace in the Drawing
Room, where, at six o'clock, complimentary canapés and sherry are served too. Newspapers, magazines and books are other distractions in the Drawing
The Dining Room on the lower ground floor opens at seven in the morning for
breakfast, lunch is served from noon and it closes after dinner at eleven at
The designer shops of Knightsbridge, Harvey Nichols and Harrods are within
walking distance as well as, to the other side of the hotel, fashionable
Chelsea with its galleries, restaurants and entertainment.
The hotel's nearest underground station is Sloane Square Station. A
chauffeured Mercedes is available for airport and train connections as well as
