The Hotel HUSA Princesa was built in 1976 in the form of a parallelopiped that consists of a central building of fourteen floors and two towers of seven on its sides. As you can see from the photograph on the right, it is no architectural beauty. Once your inside, the comfort of a big corporate hotel welcomes you.

HUSA stands for Hoteles Unidos S. A. It is Spain's biggest family-owned hotel chain with some 200 hotels (history of the HUSA group). Besides modern buildings such as the HUSA Princesa, the chain also owns classical landmark hotels, e.g. The Ritz in Barcelona and the Real Hotel in Santander, where the Spanish royal family used to spend its holidays in the 19th century.

In 1991, Metrovacesa, owner of the hotel, signed a contract with the HUSA group, which took over the management of the hotel now called HUSA Princesa. A few months later, the hotel was totally refurbished. In the year of its 25th anniversary, a second complete refurbishment of the HUSA Princesa was undertaken.

The HUSA Princesa is situated next to one of the Corte Inglés department stores, which was built in the same architectural style as the hotel. The HUSA Princesa has 263 rooms, six executive and five leisure suites as well as a presidential suite. Recommendable is the intimate Malvasía Restaurant, which serves fine Mediterranean cuisine.

The Hotel HUSA Princesa offers a variety of conference and banquet halls. The most famous conference ever held at the hotel was the 1991 Middle East Peace Conference. The hotel hosted the Israeli delegation formed by over 200 people. For the course of one week, the vestibule, hallways, restaurants, private meeting halls and hotel rooms became the scene of a constant coming and going of high-ranking officials, journalists, Mosad and police agents, without disturbing the life of the other guests. This was a major challenge for the hotel personal. The Israeli ambassador in Madrid, Bel Ami (later Israel's Minister of Foreign Affairs), US Secretary of State James Baker and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Amr Musa met in the hotel on dozens of occasions, sheltered from the world's TV cameras. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the hotel houses a big convention center with twelve modular, multi-purpose meeting rooms, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and with a total capacity of 1800 people.

Another fact that sets the HUSA Princesa apart from other hotels is its health club, which is the biggest for indoor sports in the whole of Madrid. For hotel guests, the use of the 1700m2 sport area is free of charge. Exercise machines, a sauna, a steam bath, a Jacuzzi, aerobic and muscle training, a small pool, massage and beauty treatments are available.
